Our story

The fire of Anatolia, on Istanbul's table.

Nar opened in Karaköy in 2016. The one thing that has never changed: if the ingredients from the market are fresh, they go on the table, if not, that dish simply isn't on the menu that day.

Chef Tarık Demirci spent 15 years travelling and researching the kitchens of south-eastern Anatolia. The fire techniques he brought back are paired with seasonal vegetables and fresh seafood. The tasting menu is composed each evening according to what the market offers that day.

We're against surprise bills, lost reservations and stock photography. Prices are on the menu, cover charge is on the menu, reservation confirmations come via WhatsApp.

From Gaziantep to Şanlıurfa, Antakya to Hatay, he learned Anatolia's oven and ember-based kitchens directly from the masters.

He composes the tasting menu each evening from the market. He works by the principle “If the ingredient is right, the dish exists”, if the quality isn't there that evening, the dish simply doesn't go out.

He brings classical Anatolian recipes into a modern presentation while avoiding technical showmanship: good fire, good ingredient, right timing, that's all.

    ₺120 cover charge per person, shown on the menu. No service charge. The price on the menu is the price on the bill.

    Paid covered car park immediately beside the venue. Valet on Friday–Saturday evenings. Karaköy metro stop is a 5-minute walk.
